What is the difference between QUATs and Amines?
Micronclean Alpha uses Quaternary Ammonium compounds as its active ingredient. These have a positive charge, which attracts the bacteria and long alkyl chains, so that they pierce the cell wall of micro-organisms. Quaternary Ammonium compounds also initiate autolysis, where a cell is destroyed through the action of its own enzymes.
Micronclean Beta, on the other hand, uses a triamine as its active ingredient. This pentrates the cell walls of micro-organisms and attacks the RNA, affecting its ability to replicate.
Because Alpha and Beta have different modes of action, as described above, using them in rotation with each other can prevent the long-term build-up of resistance.
